A bit of good news is a rare thing in this time of global crisis but we’re smiling this week after hearing we’ve been awarded a £40,000 grant from The Wolfson Foundation The grant will be used to refurbish our accommodation, updating facilities in three bedrooms and communal areas in our wheelchair-adapted bungalows in Oswestry.
We’ve already received donations from other trusts, charities and foundations towards the overall refurbishment bill, but The Wolfson Foundation grant will give our funds a considerable boost.
It means we can continue with our extensive programme of improvements and give our clients a bright and well-equipped environment as we help them on the road to an independent life.
The grant is part of a wider fund raising drive for £100,000 to renovate all the bedrooms and communal areas and buy further specialist equipment including extra turning beds.
Obviously our specialist accommodation is in strict lockdown at the moment – our top priority is to protect our clients and staff from Covid 19. It means all refurbishment work has been put on hold but now this major piece of funding is in place we can start planning for the work to continue and expand.
So we would like to say a big thank you to The Wolfson Foundation. As an independent grant-making charity, it supports over 11,000 projects across the UK and we are extremely proud to be one of them.
Help us spread the word about the work we do to support our clients to live independently again after suffering an injury or illness which has resulted in them needing a wheelchair.
