Lizzie’s life was changed forever when she was knocked off her bicycle and left paralysed from the waist down. She fought back through a period of lengthy rehabilitation, and with support from Ethos, became one of our top para-triathletes. Lizzie may have retired from competition now but is still fighting. . .for us at Ethos, as an ambassador and patron of the charity.
During the last three decades, our trustee Darren Hughes has been fundamental in helping people with life-changing physical disabilities to live full lives, using his own experiences of the new life he made for himself after being paralysed in a swimming pool accident at the age of 25.
Imagine you have experienced life-changing injuries or illness. The challenges you face are daunting. You have to come to terms with your new condition, possibly as a permanent wheelchair user or with severely restricted mobility.
For our latest Ethos Group trustee Janet Jones, our charity holds a very special place in her heart. Our work has transformed the new life her son, Will, now leads after he was involved in a motorbike accident where he suffered life changing spinal cord injuries.
